The 2022 World Series goes to Philadelphia. That Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros Games 1 and 2 were split at Minute Maid Park over the weekend, so the World Series is now a best-of-five series as it moves to Citizens Bank Park for Games 3-5. Game 3 was rained out on Monday night and the series resumes on Tuesday.

Oddly enough, the Phillies are 1-3 in Game 2 and 9-0 in all other games this postseason. They’re certainly hoping the trend continues after dropping Game 2 and allowing Astros to even the series. Houston is 8-1 in nine postseason games this October and they held a 5-0 lead in the one loss. They’ve been up in every game so far.

preview

One thing is for sure, the Phillies are looking to avoid another 5-0 deficit in Game 3. They trailed 5-0 early in Game 1, but put up a remarkable comeback and clinched a win in the 10th inning. In Game 2 they then fell 0-5 behind and accepted the defeat. The Astros are doing a great job of taking an early lead this October — not just against the Phillies, in all of their postseason games — and the Phillies need to keep them off the board early to have their best chance of winning Game 3 . You can only play so much from behind and beat a team as good as Houston.

forecast

On paper, the pitching advantage is in Houston’s favor because. Philadelphia’s rotation is thinning out a bit behind Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler. There’s more to life than starting matchups, but sometimes a team has an advantage that’s too big to ignore. I have the Astros in game 3.

Choose: Astros 5, Phillies 3
